REC ROOM 2016-2017
REC ROOM established itself as a live music venue in Hanoi in 2016 after two years of DIY audio recording and live music organising across town. Situated on the 20th floor of the Hanoi Creative City building near the Old Quarter, REC ROOM quickly became one of the top locations for locally-based musicians and touring performers. Aside from hosting regular metal shows, hip hop parties, indie rock bands and music workshops, the venue was also utilised as creative space for audio recording, video shooting and art exhibitions.
This page contains a collection of photos and videos from the 18 month period where REC ROOM established itself in Hanoi as a platform for a variety of musical subcultures, and as a progressive live music venue promoting a raw and upcoming original music scene from the Hanoi underground.
May 2016. The start of the Hanoi Dub Collective in REC ROOM.
April 2016

Hanoi Ensemble (VN) performs the musical works of Studio Ghibli.
June 2016
Ngot band (VN), records their second album at REC ROOM, followed by a sold-out launch party show.
April 2016
REC ROOM establishes monthly heavy rock and metal shows,
comprised mostly of local bands and local audiences.
May 2016
DJ Slowz (VN) spins vinyl all day and night for a Blue Dragon Charity Dance Competition.
July 2016
Ngot band (VN) produces a music video at REC ROOM.
August 2016
Marco Selvaggio (ITA) tours Vietnam with his Hang Drum. REC ROOM co-produced a music video and hosted a live
music event.
